Adding plants to your home is becoming more and more popular. Every Interior account worth it’s salt on social media is choc-a-block full of photos of house plants in various spaces. There are lots of benefits to having plants in the home including:

  • plants are perfect for adding texture and colour to an otherwise boring space
  • help reduce stress and anxiety-plants are part of nature and being close to nature is beneficial for mental well-being 
  • plants boost your mood, concentration and creativity
  • help clean indoor air by absorbing toxins and releasing oxygen

Not all of us are blessed with ‘green fingers’ though (myself included) so I’ve put together this list of the Top 10 Easy Care House Plants to help you out!

1.Snake Plant(Sansevieria Laurentii or Mother-in-Law’s Tongue)

  • can tolerate different light conditions (from low light-bright sun)
  • doesn’t need to be watered often
  • air-purifying properties

2. Swiss Cheese Plant(Monstera deliciosa)

  • likes bright to medium indirect light
  • water every 1-2 weeks allowing the soil to dry out between watering
  • low maintenance
  • suits most interiors-very popular at the moment

3. ZZ Plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia)

  • really hard to kill
  • thrives in areas that many plants don’t
  • needs very little water-prefers to be kept on dry side

  • place in bright indirect light
  • only needs water every 1-2 weeks when soil becomes dry
  • can grow quite tall so is ideal for filling awkward empty spaces

  • place in a fully sunny spot
  • water when soil feels dry
  • can survive more than a month without attention!

  • Like bright light
  • make sure to let soil dry out between waterings
